Confessional Communities

More Details

CBK members can be connected with other members in a Confessional Community. CBK develops and supports group facilitators, and groups meet virtually or in person.

Thank you for your interest in Confessional Communities! Please read the following descriptions of what it means to take part in one of these groups.

Group structure

Groups are either self-forming, or CBK schedules and connects group members. Groups are free to explore different meeting styles and structures. All groups have a CBK facilitator connected to the CBK membership association.

Group meetings

Groups meet weekly for six months, for 90 minutes each session: about 24 sessions. Groups can continue after the close of the cohort if they wish. Most groups meet on Zoom and include people from all over the United States and other countries. Zoom groups are scheduled around specific meeting times, and participants choose a time that works for their schedule a few weeks before the cohort begins.

Facilitator qualifications

  • Facilitators are CBK members.
  • Facilitators have read and are familiar with the three core Being Known books and the CBK Community Group Guidelines.
  • Facilitators attend an orientation that reviews the basics of running a group.
  • Facilitators are invited into a community with other facilitators, where we offer support, listen to experiences and share each group’s successes, struggles and opportunities.

Facilitator Candidate Survey

Email Contactus@thecbk.org if you are interested in completing a Facilitator Candidate Survey. Potential facilitators are interviewed and vetted by our Facilitator Support Team.

Confessional Communities and therapeutic settings

Participation in CBK groups focuses on peer-to-peer support and encouragement in the individual work and application of Being Known in life and vocation. Individuals who seek or need a professional therapeutic environment will be referred to appropriate mental health settings.

In person or online

CBK provides online meetings so that groups can communicate, organize and meet, both in person where possible and virtually.

Join the next cohort

Cohorts begin each January and meet weekly through June, mostly on Zoom. CBK membership is required to take part.
